COMPASSION | COMMUNITY | CREATIVITY | LEARNING
AYM is a certified yoga studio in downtown Montréal. Rooted in the Ashtanga tradition, we offer a variety of classes for all levels — from beginner to advanced, as well as early-morning Mysore classes. We also teach a range of styles, from Restorative & Yin to Vinyasa, with an emphasis on detail, precision, and alignment.
Our yearly teacher-training program is Yoga Alliance certified and recognized as one of the most comprehensive courses available designed to allow trainees to build the strong foundations needed to safely teach yoga with confidence.
Our teachers are recognized as the best in the city. They all have a strong commitment to ongoing education and have extensive knowledge of the body, its proper alignment, and safe practices.
In the pursuit of constant growth, we offer a wide variety of workshops throughout the year and invite some of the world’s leading teachers to come to share their unique approaches and practical wisdom with our community.
Mostly, at AYM, we are proud of our community of inspiring and welcoming teachers and students who, together, create an environment that offers support and a safe space to grow.
We opened in 2000 as one of the first yoga studios in Montreal by founders Mark Darby and Allison Ulan to bring the traditional Ashtanga yoga teachings to Montreal. Over the years the studio has grown, moved, and changed directions and directors. This year we have adopted a new logo as well as refining our identity.
While it's important for us to keep offering the traditional Ashtanga Mysore practice, we also have extended our studies to offer a variety of complementary practices suitable for all needs. To be able to vary how we teach based on the needs of the students in front of us. We recognize the difference between each individual and allow the student to acknowledge it as well and respect what is present for them.
Working from the structure of Ashtanga, many of our teachers have studied Iyengar and other disciplines whether it is restorative, yin, hatha, meditation, pranayama, or structural movement. All to help to deliver the most educated form of practice for you.
It is important for all of us to be able to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where each individual can explore at their own self at the speed of their individual path.
Check out our teachers and their approach to find the perfect teaching for your need, based on their individual journeys along the path of self-study.
