Starts Saturday May 14th
Ashtanga Yoga Montreal

This 75 hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Program at Ashtanga Yoga Montreal is built around our love and enthusiasm for Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Ashtanga Yoga is one of the original and ancient forms of movement based asana practices, from which all contemporary vinyasa and power yoga styles have originated from.

If your already a yoga teacher training with 200-500 hours, this course will be an informative and challenging comprehensive program that will add to your repertoire of teaching skills of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

Also designed for all who want to learn more about yoga asana, explore and expand a personal yoga practice, while learning its healing science and application in life.

A program that helps you to establish practical tools for sharing and teaching yoga, if that is your goal. As we also aim to build a learning environment of yoga, built to serve the community.

If you are motivated by a strong desire to challenge yourself, our YTT program will support your journey by providing a safe and dedicated space for your practice and studies.

Course Highlights:

A detailed examination and analysis of yoga asana, using three (3) main influences: architecture and alignment from the BKS Iyengar method infused into the movement based vinyasa method of T Krishnamacharya & Sri K Pattabhi Jois. Teaching skills will emphasize proper verbal communication of how to instruct in a powerful yet supportive and concise manner.
Additional topics include: Patanjali's yoga sutras, ethics of teaching, the teacher student relationship, modern styles and trends, classroom management, and demonstration skills.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Background:

The Sanskrit word Vinyasa means 'breath-synchronized movement', the popularity and spread of Vinyasa Yoga came from two (2) main influencial Guru`s of our past; Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and K. Pattabhi Jois.

Tirumalai Krishnamacharya (November 18, 1888 - February 28, 1989) was an Indian yoga teacher, ayurvedic healer and scholar. Often referred to as "The Father of Modern Yoga," Krishnamacharya is widely regarded as one of the most influential yoga teachers of the 20th century and is credited with the revival of hatha yoga. Pattabhi Jois began his yoga studies in 1927 at the age of 12 with Krishnamacharya, and by 1948 had established the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute for teaching the specific yoga practice known as Ashtanga Yoga. Ashtanga Yoga is named after the eight limbs of yoga mentioned in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. "Power yoga" and "vinyasa yoga" are generic terms that may refer to any type of vigorous yoga exercise derived from Ashtanga yoga.
