Prāṇāyāma & Yogic Meditation A Course Rooted in Āsana, Breath, and Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras This course explores meditation through the practical relationship between āsana, prāṇāyāma, and the teachings of Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras. Rather than approaching meditation as something separate from the body and breath, we will look at how posture, breathing, attention, and inner stillness develop together as one continuous process. Through guided practice and study, we will explore how prāṇāyāma helps establish steadiness, clarity, and ease in both seated practice and daily life. The Yoga Sūtras will serve as a practical framework for understanding the meditative process: how attention develops, what obstacles arise, and how the qualities of inner quietness and stability begin to emerge through practice. The course begins withan in-person sessions (3 hours) focused on posture for meditation and prāṇāyāma, including how to work with the body you have today while developing greater comfort, support, and stability over time. This foundation will support the breathing practices introduced throughout the course. The following three online sessions (1.5 hours each) will continue the exploration of prāṇāyāma in greater depth while also studying selected sections of the Yoga Sūtras and their direct relevance to āsana practice, prāṇāyāma, and seated meditation.
